I went on another that date that girl, Jane. I took her out to the Cheesecake Factory. I thought it was a big night -

Dr. Fletcher

That's a nice restaurant.

Gary

It's a nice restaurant. So things have been going on really great. We've been getting along pretty well.

Dr. Fletcher

That's good. I'm glad to hear that.

Gary

I'm glad to hear that. We sat down. When I go to the Cheesecake Factory I like to order - since they have such an eclectic menu I typically like to get an appetizer and an entree that are one type of food and then have my date get an appetizer and an entree that are another type of food. So you maximize the spectrum of what you're eating.

Dr. Fletcher

I'm sorry, was Jane the girl you had the episode of repeating with?

Gary

Yeah, Jane was the girl I had the episode of repeating with.

Dr. Fletcher

So things didn't go too badly on that first date.

Gary

Things did not go too badly on that first date, and -

Dr. Fletcher

I'm sorry, are you having an episode of repeating now?

Gary

Am I having an episode of repeating? Yes, I'm having an episode of repeating. Anyway she took offense to this, like I was trying to control how she was ordering her food.

Dr. Fletcher

(writing notes) Gary was having an episode of repeating, but I thought it was a good opportunity for me to repeat back the very negative things he says about other people.

Gary

So I started hurling insults at her hoping that maybe she would leave so that I could enjoy my southwestern egg rolls in peace.

Dr. Fletcher

You know, that's not the right way to do it with a woman. I'm not here to coach you but you really have to show respect. Sometimes you just need to be tolerant and get along with the people who you're around and then decide later if you don't want to see them again.

Gary

If I don't want to seem them again. So I was throwing these insults at her and it didn't seem to phase her at all. I was basically trying to get her to leave so I could enjoy my southwestern eggrolls in peace but she wouldn't but she wouldn't leave. At this point I was just making things up because -

Dr. Fletcher

You're a bastard sometimes.

Gary

I'm a bastard sometimes. You know, I told her that her armpits were really smelly and I told her that -

Dr. Fletcher

Some things about you are revolting.

Gary

Some things about me are revolting. I excused myself to go to the bathroom because I -

Dr. Fletcher

(writing notes) Sometimes the most productive thing a therapist can do is mirror a patient's behavior.

Gary

And she was totally indignant about all of this. She was pretending like all of my complaints were totally unfounded.

Dr. Fletcher

She could have told you that you're a klutz in the sack, like other girls have said.

Gary

I'm a klutz in the sack. I told her that she wasn't that good in bed. And I also told her that I had slept with someone else while we had been together, which wasn't true but none of these things -

Dr. Fletcher

You're a lying son of a bitch.

Gary

I'm a lying son of a bitch. None of these things were -
